My hair is pretty much on my shoulders... it grows quickly (at least an inch a month), I had it cut nearly two months ago and it's grown about two inches since then... I'm aiming for it to get down to underneath my chest. It's getting damaged and I need another trim to cut off my split ends, but I heard the best way to grow long hair is to not have layers. Unfortunately my hair is fairly layered and some layers are quite short. What should I do? Do I go ahead and have it trimmed, or leave it and wait for the layers to grow out? Also the name of a really good shampoo and conditioner would be much appreciated :)

i think you should trim it. think of it this way, if you trim it you'll get closer to get you hair the same length. you should try the sunsilk shampoo and conditioner line. they have different shampoos for different types of hair

Honey if you aren t sure what pubic hair are then i don t think you should be asking the public but instead asking your mother and none of these people should answer it for you. I would be upset if my daughter wasn t sure and relied on people she didn t know verses me her own mother but then i think i would have talked it over with her before it started happening. I am not saying that your question is wrong but that maybe you should talk with someone closer to you about it

If your hair is damaged at the ends, its best to trim it. If you trim the ends and not the layers they'll eventually catch up with each other and you can grow them out. As for shampoo and conditioner, I find if you want hair like you've just been to the salon, you need a salon quality shampoo and conditioner. I've been using TIGI shampoo and conditioner for a few years now and I love it. its a bit pricey but you get what you pay for and its well worth it.

Hey, I think you should just trim the length about 1 cm every two months. I know its only little but at least you can get the length you like and faster. Don't work about the layers. Leave them how they are now without trimming them. so by the time your hair grows, with you six week trim, your layers should be almost to the length. Good Luck growing your hair!
Also a good shampoo and conditioner is Redken, Its my favourite! :)

Always, always, always, have your hair trimmed. The healthiest of hair gets split ends and they are generally an eighth of an inch to a quarter of an inch when they start. However, just like a run in a pair of hose, time is a split ends friend...not yours. For that reason alone you should always have your hair trimmed. A professional stylist knows how to trim hair while also allowing layers to "catch up" with each other. Just make sure you choose someone who isn't "scissor happy". I recommend finding a stylist with an established business and most of all, one that listens to what you ask for.

Juliette is completely right. Try the Paul Mitchell range quite pricey But excellent results, also Redken, excellent stuff. Use thermal protection spray every time you add heat to your hair.
